Brewster’s Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course – Strategic Management Agreement

Windmill Golf Group and Brewster’s Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course Announce Strategic Management Agreement

Calgary, AB (March 7th, 2016) Windmill Golf Group and Brewster’s Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course are pleased to announce a strategic management agreement. This partnership brings together both companies’ strengths in the golf business, which allows both parties to grow and offer expanded facilities to their customers.

“We are extremely excited about this partnership and the opportunities it brings to Brewster’s Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course today and in the future,” said Janet Brewster-Stanton, representative for the Brewster Family. “Windmill Golf Group is an industry leader. We feel confident that aligning ourselves with a proven winner will create a win-win situation for our customers.”

“The Windmill Golf Group is very excited about this strategic partnership with Brewster’s Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course and the Brewster Family,” adds Barry Ehlert, Managing Partner of Windmill Golf Group. “This course is a hidden gem. We intend to shine a light on what golf should be in the Rockies.”

Windmill Golf Group’s roots began in the 1950s when Lawrence Ehlert – who managed a small 9 hole-golf course in Southern Alberta for 30 years – expanded the course to 18 holes. Lawrence’s son, Ron, grew up working at the golf course and was later involved with the design and construction of dozens of golf courses around Alberta including some local courses such as Elbow Springs Golf Club, McCall Lake and Lakeside Greens. Ron Ehlert owns Elbow Springs and is President of Windmill Golf Group, creating a stepping stone for his son, Barry. Barry Ehlert continues the family legacy with a huge enthusiasm for golf and the golf business.

Barry is a leader in his own right as Owner and Managing Partner of The Hamptons Golf Club, Mickelson National Golf Club (presently under construction), Springbank Links, Boulder Creek, Silverwing Links Clubs located in Calgary as well as The Wilderness Club in Montana, Northern Bear in Edmonton and Wildstone Golf Course in Cranbrook, B.C.

Brewster’s Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course is an 18-hole public facility open yearly between April and October. Every hole is unique, with smooth naturally shaped fairways, bent grass greens, ponds and sand traps. The back nine holes opened in 2008 offer spectacular views of the Bow River and Bow Valley. Large spruce trees line the course, and Brewster horses can often be seen grazing just over the fences into the Brewster family’s 93 year old guest ranch.

This Rocky Mountain golf course lies in the lee of the North side of Yamnuska Mountain. The location, 15 minutes from Canmore and 45 minutes from Calgary, is a beautiful setting for hosting tournaments, group events, conference meetings, weddings and staff outings.
